Hi Judith Worms can be transmitted many different ways. One way, that is not addressed or publicized to often, is that a worm can be placed on an Internet router and messages that come through that router can get infected. The worm may randomly load itself on to messages but not ever one. In any case, it looks to the recipient like it came from you. Even though it is causing you a headache, I think the people that notified you are good people trying to make things better. I am also assuming that you have the latest up date for your Norton's. Yes it is possible that Norton's and other anti virus program's could give a false positive, the probability would not be that good I am thinking. Unless it is a new worm. Did the email(s) notifying you of the worm's name? If so you could do a search. If they did not supply a name to you, I suggest you email them back and thank them for notifying you and tell them that you have run a check on your system(s) and found nothing. Ask them if they have the name for the worm so you can do a check. You could also ask them if they got the worm with this email too? Might get them thinking. In addition, you might want to go to other anti virus companies that provide a free check of your system (Panda for instance) and run that. Include that in your reply email too. This will show the people that you are very responsible about situations like this and it will do some damage control. Are you doing your own web site hosting or is a web site service doing the hosting? If the latter, you might send them a copy of the emails you got and explaining to them the steps that you have gone through to check your system and the results, asking them to check their systems. If you are doing the hosting and have your puter on 24/7, I suggest you have it check Norton's for updates every few hours or at max every 4 hours 24/7. Another suggest, you might post on your web site that you check your system on a regular basis. It is sad that this happens for the sick entertainment of a few people, but that is the world and morality we live in. Hope this is of some help and comfort to you. Life is what happens in between plans.
