One thing to try is to make sure you have the address bar showing.  
Sometimes it gets shortened to the point you don't see it.  This is 
kind of hard to explain in words, but place your cursor over the area 
where you normally have the address bar.  Move it slowly across the 
screen in the area.  When you see two parallel vertical bars, stop and 
press the left mouse button down.  Then slide the mouse to the right 
or left of that position.  I suspect that you will see your address 
bar begin to show.  I know this probably doesn't make much sense, but 
maybe someone else can add to it.
