*SAS ANKENY NWR SCOUTING TRIP REPORT*
*SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2019*
Fred and Kay scouted Ankeny NWR in preparation for our SAS Ankeny NWR field
trip on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 8:00 AM. They went to Eagle Marsh,
Pintail Marsh and the Rail Trail. There were some foggy conditions with
temperatures ranging from 43 to 55 degrees.
The species observed were mostly the common ones for this time of year. We
are starting to see a few more ducks. The best sightings included Greater
White-fronted Geese, Great Egret and Golden-crowned Kinglets. The total
number of species seen/heard was 43.
A list of the species observed during the trip are listed below. The
specific numbers of each species were not kept for this trip. Our next SAS
field trip will be at Ankeny NWR on *Sunday, October 13th at 8:00 a.m.*
Meet at the Pintail Marsh parking lot off Wintel Road. The next SAS Shorts
bird walk is on *Thursday, October 24th* at Brown’s Ferry Park in
Tualatin. Meet at the Airport Rd. Park and Ride at 8:30 AM. Please join
