I've heard of ppl using pre-g3 macs with g3/g4 upgrade cards running OSX
and using Quartz Extreme... particularly with the Radeon 7000 cards...
and that's 33mhz pci bus...
so I don't think an upgraded beige or BW G3 _can't_ use quartz extreme...
I havent done it, but i think it is possible.
