Vic just reminded me that you could also make a shortcut to do this and
put a new icon on your desktop...so, if you use this icon instead of the
default Outlook icon, this would open Outlook with all preview panes
closed with one click

Here's how to do it:

Right click your desktop and choose New>Shortcut
In the first box, put this inside the box "c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /nopreview
(of course this assumes this is the location of Outlook on your machine,
so you should change this if it is different)
Click next and go thru the rest of the steps...name is NoPreview or
something

Now, when you want to open Outlook, just use this shortcut instead of
the default one

I'm sure Tina already saw this suggestion from Vic in his group (
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WinTips-Tricks/ ) ....but I asked Vic if I
could post it here so you guys and gals can see it...so here's a way to
open Outlook with no preview panes:

As for Preview Pane in Outlook, I don't know if this will help but you
can
use the no preview pane option to close the Preview Pane in all folders
at
once on startup.
ie
"c:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Outlook.exe" /nopreview
You can put that into a bat file or shortcut which when double clicked
will
open Outlook with no preview pane in any folder.
That way it doesn't matter if you forget. Anytime you start Outlook, all
preview panes will be closed.

Thanks Vic!!!

Linda
