That's the nature of NFS ... heavy IO on NFS mounts is never a good idea :-)

We are running  various 32-48 core systems with 128-256G RAM, and all
systems used
for assemblies (no matter if I use MIRA or other assemblers) do have enough
local diskspace
attached for "typical" assembly tasks, usually more than 3TB. This is not
really a matter of cost.

As we run our local storage in RAID5 SSDs are not an option, as this would
be indeed a cost factor :-)
