[lit-ideas] Re: The Feminine Technique?

While we are discussing the possibility that their may be an either
feminine/masculine or more simply female/male 'STYLE' I have a question for
readers of popular fiction.

Has anyone else noticed that in the past 10-15 years that mystery/detective
novels, where previously only perhaps 10% were written by women (or by
people with women's names anyway) are now more commonly written by women. I
find it also to be the case that women detective writers, while not having
a discernably "feminine" style DO tend to concentrate more on the minutiae
of the gore and elaborate explanations of murder, carnage, investigative
forensics etc. Any speculation?

Just one guy's observations,

paul
