Has anyone else noticed the recent spate of weather-related news, the
British scientists who report that 2005 was the warmest single year
since the 9th century and the US weather service that reports that
January 2005 was 8.5 degrees warmer than the average for this month?

2005 was the warmest year in 600,000 years. The second warmest year was 2004. The third was 2003.

Right now, I have the doors open. It's late spring outside: the cat is laying in the sun, most of the flowers are out. I'm thinking I may need to mow the lawn this weekend. In a bit, I'll make a sandwich and eat outside. It's been like this since mid-January.
