Ever notice how there are never any "hail-sized" hail stones?
Perhaps Eastwood's character is wiser than he appears. He's stating the
obvious -- "bleach smells like bleach" -- and questioning it at the same time.

p.s. related question: you know how you say "building? schmilding!" or
"glasses? schmasses!" What do you do if the word you are schm-ing already
starts with a schm? eg. "schmaltz --- what??"
