When, in fact, on icy reflection it was far less than Pearl Harbor, 
which represented a nearly successful attempt to make the Japanese the 
dominant military power throughout the Western Pacific. 9/11 may have 
equaled Pearl Harbor in terms of shock to the national psyche, boosted 
in no small part by the hyperbolic coverage on TV--but, IMHO, as 
serious threats go, Pearl Harbor was far more dangerous.
