I could not visit the intended page. But, i think the point is right.
The other day, when i was in ELCOT for configuring tamil keyboard
layout, couple of delegates from Microsoft including the Managing
Director for India met Umashankar and they were ready to provide him
MS office and XP professional for the cheapest price. But Umashankar
was demonstrating them the power of Openoffice and arguing why he
should ever consider to use MS office.
When they invited him to view the e-gov initiatives taken by Singapore
Govt. using Microsoft technologies, he advised them to bring them here
to see the initiatives taken by him in Tamil Nadu using open source
softwares.
And yeah, the help from ILUGC volunteers are appreciated. But i think,
it's not enough. We should put our best efforts and see we help him in
all possible areas. Couple of us should meet him on regular basis and
insure the expertise we have in ILUGC are very well leveraged for TN's
purpose.
