Microsoft wouldnt dare try to sue every single person in TN who are
using pirated windows - it will take them forever to file the cases,
get them through all the legal proceedings, get convincing evidences
for all the cases and get convictions done. It is probably going to
cost them lesser than the cost of these pirated windows but definitely
it is going to take a long long long time. A realistic option would be
if microsoft tries to sue some govt agencies - but that is not going
to happen as TN govt is trying to switch to linux en-mass. This is a
lose-lose situation for microsoft unless the project backfires. The
only way the project can backfire is through lack of quality support.
One thing Mr. Umashanker is going to have to prepare is a good support
team physically spread through out the state to be able to support the
complete infrastructure. That is - at least initially. Ultimately
there would be enough knowledgable people locally to handle issues
locally like they do with windows now.
