As has been pointed about by others, the issue is not
the price, but the freedom of choice offered by OSS.
Let's hope they can pull off the pilot program smoothly.

P.S. FLOSS is significantly more competitive against
Vista - existing HW can run most, if not all, Linux distros -
while Vista will need a significant HW refresh cycle. I
believe it's doomed - probably the last packaged
consumer OS from Redmond. They'll stick to apps
and services after Vista bombs.
