I wouldn't have a problem with a very different inetd for us, but I think it would be an addition that still fits into its realm (even if it's only its name that does that :). IOW I don't see a reason to have two different network related daemons when it can easily and efficiently handled by one. We don't even have to call it inetd, we can even call it net_server, and it could just do everything in that regard. Bye, Axel.
