I would be willing to take on some of that responsibly to help make small
changes here and there when requested. This sort of request is probably a
good example because I now answer the emails from the site contact form so I
could easily make these changes without having to bother other people on
this list.

This isn't a bad idea either. Given that we all make mistakes and having an
easy way to revert back would be great.
