>>> I can see why the host would ask the plugin to change its config, but why would a plugin do it spontaneously? <<< Plugins today that do this have a settings GUI that let the user make config changes such as the number of outputs. Specific examples are the FXpansion DR-008 and Native Instruments Battery drum synths, which let the user create one output per drum pad, or all pads mixing to a single main, or various numbers of mains in between. The user sets this up within the plugin's own UI, at any time. So from my perspective, based on the plugins I've seen in the field, the more common scenario is a plug-in initiated change in outputs or parameters. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Generalized Music Plugin Interface (GMPI) public discussion list Participation in this list is contingent upon your abiding by the following rules: Please stay on topic.
