Are you sure (and I know you probably are) that Symantec Backup Exec
version 8.5 you purchased for $69 handles 2003 Servers? I know at about
version 7.5 there was a $65 version for XP and a $800 version for 2003
Servers. Of course, these were Symantec prices, not Foxboro prices.

I have a copy of Symantec Backup Exec 8.5 in my hand but have not used
it yet. It's slated to go on the new Windows Server 2003 box.

We were quoted the Symantec Backup Exec 7.0, Server Edition for $1975
List (K0201BB). I was rendered completely speechless at that figure so I
didn't think to ask whether it came with gold-plated cables or not. We
bought the software directly from Symantec for $69.

To All,
     This is an excellent thread because it highlights an area that
consumes considerable time for both Foxboro and for users and there is
a lot of room for improvement.  There might be a potential Windows
solution from Norton/Symantec now that could make this process a lot
easier.  It makes a Physical to Virtual Machine Backup that can go
either way, which is a little different than what Corey suggests by
making Foxboro run as a Virtual Machine, but it could be pretty sweet.
     If Foxboro will upgrade the 7.0 Symantec product we bought from
them, to Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5, for free, I will
Beta test it for them;<).  It is still cheaper than what we paid them
for Symantec 7.0.  There are still some potential problems with the
Fiber NIC's for the MESH connection because the Symantec product
counts on being able to utilize "Plug and Play" devices based on their
literature.

Has anyone tried Symantec Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 yet?  It
