Russ,
My Blackberry didn't unwind it like Kevin's and I thought you were
cussing me out ;<)

Duc,
We have been through a lot of pain together before over these type
of issues and the end isn't in sight. Windows just adds another level
of frustration.

As they say: " If it was so easy a monkey could do it, they probably
WOULD have a monkey doing it and we would all be out of a job." Not a
good thing in these times of economic turmoil.

Corey,
Virutal Machine, (VMWare), would be the cats meow for this
situation but let's not hold our breath lest we both perish and miss
all of the fun on this list ;<)

I will send out a final synopsis of our upgrade attempts but here
is a 1st day recap of many experiments and trials.
1. Unpacked Dell Power Edge 2900, hooked it up to dual monitors, dual
power, and booted it up.
2. Attempted to change the monitor resolution of the MATROX video card
from the default 1024x768 to 1280x1024 to match the resolution we run
on the old box. We couldn't do it even though the driver was
apparently loaded for the correct MATROX card. Re-installed a driver
from a CD we had from the old box, (couldn't find a Matrox CD included
with the new box). All was good.
3. Used "True Image" to back up the new box day0.
4. Played around, (called OJT learning), with the dual RAID1 300GB
drives until we broke the RAID. Learned a lot about RAID1
capabilities and problems.
5. Perfomed a Day0/1 on the new box.
6. Did a True Image backup of the old P91
7. Restored old image from P91 2800 to new P91 2900, recognizing that
it would probably hose the new box but thinking we might be able to
reboot and then redo the Day1 install to fix all that was broken but
retain all of the apps and data files.
8. Upon reboot of the new box after restore from old box image it came
to the "Load Windows 2003 Server" window. When we hit Enter it
accessed the RAID1 drives a couple times and then froze, and then
rebooted. Repeated reboots yeilded the same results.
9. Restored the original DAY0 from True Image and rebooted successfully.
10. End of the 1st day. "On the first day God created a wash"

On the 2nd day we will:
* Do a Day1 on the new box
* Install AIM* AT, FoxAPI, IACC, Foxview 10.1 applications on the new box.
* Do a backup of the new box at application loaded DAY1 condition.
* Backup configuration and databases for above apps from the old box
* Restore configuration and databases to the new box
* Do CSA Save from the old box
* Do CSA Merge on the new box
* Disconnect the old box from the MESH
* Connect the new box to the MESH and pray
* If all is well do a Symantec 7.0 backup of the new box.
