it is by as Kevin mentioned NEVER edit the crontab directly w/
'crontab -e'. if you screw it up, it's gone.

much better to list it and redirect that to a file. edit the resulting
file, then load it as Kevin outlines above.

'crontab -e' is one of those things that is a very bad idea, a unix
sin so to speak (and mortal, not venial at that)
