For those of you who make use of David Pilling's SyncDiscs to make backups, there is now a new version (version 1.20). This new version has been produced with the full agreement and encouragement from David. The most significant change is that SyncDiscs can now be configured to carry out a synchronisation or compare in full multitasking mode. This means that, unlike earlier versions, the machine on which it is running can still be used while a compare or synchronisation process is completing in the background. This was something that had been requested on occasions in the past. For those not aware of SyncDiscs, SyncDiscs is an application to make the contents of two discs or directories the same. For example, it may be used for keeping general backups on the same or different media or machines, to keep an exact copy of a hard disc on a removable disc, or for synchronising a portable computers disc with that on a main machine. The new version can be obtained from: http://www.chrisjohnson.plus.com/software/sync.html or http://www.chris-johnson.org.uk/software/sync.html I should emphasise that any comments about, or problems with, this new version should be addressed to myself and *not* to David. There will be an announcement in comp.sys.acorn.announce in due course, but subscribers to this list are getting advance notice and the chance to try it out first. I hope you find this new version useful. -- Chris... To unsubscribe or subscribe goto: //www.freelists.org/list/davidpilling
