Having worked construction in the last decade I'd rather be inundated
than maimed or dead.
As on the railroad, there's a reason to have the rules, and often
they come the hard way.

Yep. No "Nanny State" back then.
Now-a-days we are inundated with Elf & Safety that we are getting
to the
point of ridiculousness. Still, we are not yet as bad as the UK.
