Oh I like the DNA-tree idea! Made me think of fusing it with the "tree of life", as enclosed. Naturally the final version would have to have red and white, rather than red and yellow, if a white strand could be done with sufficient contrast. Circles are nice, they make good badges and stickers. Also, we want the name in the icon as Steve did, I'm just playing with imagery here..
