Just a word of warning--don't try this with the newer devices from FS, specifically the PAC Mate. These devices have batteries that are 100% proprietary and they cannot be replaced by Batteries Plus or similar stores. The batteries contain a "smart chip" that is not available anywhere but FS. ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Bennett" <david382@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, December 02, 2005 2:36 PM Subject: [bookport] Re: the holidays and bookport I have two of them. Whenever they need new batteries I simply take them to a Battery Outfitter store in my area and they fix up and install a battery pack for $20. Compare that to FreedomScientific's price. Not difficult, since the battery pack consists of five "AA" batteries wired together in a special configuration and spot-welded in place. The guy who does it for me claims it's a five-minute job, and I can attest to that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Otto Zamora" <8zamora@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, December 02, 2005 11:11 AM Subject: [bookport] Re: the holidays and bookport > Hello, > > For what ever it's worth, I still have a BNS, and it works great for the > use > I put to it. > > Otto > > -----Original Message----- > From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] > On Behalf Of Mike Freeman > Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 4:29 PM > To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [bookport] Re: the holidays and bookport > > Devices evolve to sell more devices! > > Mike > > On Mon, 28 Nov 2005, David Bennett wrote: > >> And yet, devices do evolve and change to accommodate needs, trends, >> preferences.
