Agreed. I think that the book port could mostly support the features that a
PlexTalk or an ipod has, within reason. PlexTalk has shuffle play and will
work a crossed folders. It will play MP3, .wav files, and I was told that
the new one even supported .ogg files. If the Book port could support
similar, and record similarly and still work with text/daisy files or text
based files, plus perform the basics of a text based note taker/ alarm
clock/calculator/calendar and more, this would be an excellent tool for a
scholar, business professional, and the rest of us.

Maybe if all of this wouldn't be handy to have, APH could consider making
the book port as it is today the basic version, and a professional version
with the extensive text based note taker/fully accessible digital recorder
as more of a plus version.

Just my thoughts,

/David

I'll second and third that motion. Also, how about an option that would be
settable where you could tell BookPort that if it is playing MP3 files and
there are files in more than one folder to continue playing accross folder
boundries instead of stoping when it finishes the last file in a given
folder.

:I would like to see the book port fully support recording in whatever
format
: you need. Kind of like a plextalk, without the CD.

: Hi,
:
: I saw over the holidays that ipods now have video capabilities on them and
: other stuff, although their primary function is playing music. I would
like
: to see 1. better recording capabilities on the bookport using the
bookport's
: internal microphone. like the ability to record at 32khz or 44khz mono 2.
a
: pronunciation dictionary so I can change how the speech pronounces words
: when I'm reading books such as harry potter where the speech says some
names
: and things incorrectly.
: 3. a spell-checker for the notetaker, similar to that of the braille 'n
: speak.
: 4. It would be cool also if the transfer software could through use of the
: options dialog optionally convert text files with spaces into rtf or word
: files after synchronization. I think it would be easier to do this on the
: computer end of things rather than expecting the bookport to do it.
: I was told I'm getting a bookport as an early christmas present and I
can't
: wait to have one! I also hope to buy a language master in a month or two
: here as well.
