Since along with reading books wonderfully it does a lot of mp3 and audio
file playing I think the bookport should be renamed the soundport but it's
just a thought I don't care as much about what it's called.

Subject: [bookport] Re: new unit proposal

I think I'd call it a Book Port unless A.P.H. renamed it. After all,
I call my Swiss Army knife a knife. As with some others, I generally
prefer a tool which is used for a single purpose. In fact, I have
shelves, drawers, and cabinets along a 20 foot wall holding such
tools. however, I can't carry them all along when i go
somewhere. So, I like to carry something which will do in a pinch
for several jobs--thus the Swiss Army knife.

I used to wear a watch and carry a calculator at all times. Now, my
calculator has a clock so i don't need the watch. If the bookport
had a calculator, then I'd no longer carry the separate one. Already
the Book Port replaces a micro-cassette recorder or braille slate for
taking quick notes, would replace my clock if it weren't for the need
to continue to carry my calculator, and adds the capability of
carrying along loads of reference material and some music.

If I felt the need , which I do not, to call the Book Port something
else if additional functionality was added, then "convenient" would
be the word.I think most people are more interested in convenience
than some notion of purity of design idiology.

having said all that, I won't be putting my two cents in for any
particular changes. It doesn't much matter to me whether A.P.H.
makes any changes past bug fixes.
