Not only the cost but also the requirements, you would need a much more powerful processor which would never work on 2 aa batteries. The calculator would need no additional hardware, if you don't need it just don't use it. I'm sure there are features on every device we all own that we don't care about, but someone out there probably loves and uses them every day. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of m.barber@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 9:40 AM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: new unit proposal I disagree with the calculator idea. This is a bookport which is to be used for reading books. You can easily buy a reasonably priced talking calculator or use the calculator program on your computer. What will be the next request for this device: word processing? Database management? E-mail capabilities? Or how about making and receiving phone calls? Myself, the one improvement I'd like is better synthesized speech. I'm not much on DoubleTalk. I like the Neospeech Kate or Paul, but I am certain this would increase the cost of this unit considerably. MichaelBB > Think of how much more useful the unit could be.
