Hi, Tiffany.

I go to the edit box to change drives, type in my choice, go to the next box, go back, and it's still at d. It shows no sign of connecting, or any recognition.

Not necessarily. My book port shows up in my computer. In fact when I attach the cable the drive letter pops open, but when I open the transfer program it always says it is disconnected. And yes, I have done everything anyone has suggested, from uninstalling and reinstalling, to removing in device manager, to reassigning drive letters, and called tech support more than once. Never once has it ever worked properly with my one machine.
Back to Mickey, have you tried to reassign the drive letter? this is what usually solves the problem for everyone else. On my computer however, it will let me change it, but it doesn't make a difference. Also, as soon as I disconnect and reconnect the cable it goes back to it's original letter.
Of course, it's always worth your trying it...

Hi Mickey,
Since you said you could see the Book Port from My Computer, just connect
the bookport and run the transfer program from the start menu. You can then
transfer books anyway. Also, see if the bookport launcher is in the start
menu. Go to the start menu and look in the startup pull-down menu to see
if it is there. If it is, it should have started when you re-booted your
computer. If it is not there, that is probably why the transfer program
doesn't start when you connect the bookport.

Hi, Rob.

When I went to get the previous beta, the BP needed coaxing. I think I
finally got it.

Very early Sunday morning I decided it was time to get the beta. The
computer does NOT recognize the BP.

I've tried another USB cable, tried taking batteries out, tried rebooting,
tried the BP on another computer to get the error, tried resetting and
reformattting, tried another card, and have been asking the list since
Sunday morning.

Any suggestions? Anything else I can try?

Boy, do you miss a BP once you've had it!

I am missing when this problem started, and what might have caused it.
New computer? Firmware Upgrade?

Hi, Sandy. I rebooted, tried a different USB cable, reformatted the
card, changed batteries, unplugged all USB devices.

I've rebooted twice since the failure was noticed.

It started with the beta before this one. I had to go to the Bookport
file management to coax it to update. Now, when I go there, it tells
me the

Bookport is not connected.

I'll try anything!

Thanks for everyone's help.

Did you try rebooting your computer?

At 01:51 AM 2/26/2006, you wrote:

The
batteries are at 54%, I tried another USB cable, I tried different
USB
ports. I disconnected the batteries and reinstalled them.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
