Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts. I think what sends me back to work on the older books is a strong desire for fairness in that some of these scans are of excellent quality and are not textbooks that have multiple editions. I agree with Jill about the textbooks that have a new version every year or two and about the books in really rough shape. Some of these don't fit that description though. They're books of poetry and essays as well as economics and literary criticism. Some of these scans deserve inclusion in the collection both because of their excellent quality and because they represent the interests of some of our members. If someone took the time to scan a book and submit it in excellent condition, as with 2 books I currently have, I think they do deserve credit for their work. The problem I can't seem to get around is that the subjects just don't have a lot of appeal to me. I can't honestly say that I validate these books as carefully as I am doing with the mystery I've been working on because the mystery was so good that I read every word. With these books, a rank spelling and skimming through the chapters will have to do. In the end, I think I'm looking for ways to motivate myself as well as ways to find people who genuinely enjoy these subjects. Thanks for reading my ramblings and for any ideas that might come to you later on. (smile)
