Test B (scaling): as noted last night, a spectacular fail.
Test C (gradient): fail.
Test D (painting): pass.
Test E (channel mixer): fail.

Pretty damned pathetic.
I remember doing the layer blend tests some time back, seeing Photoshop pass
(with, of course, that setting Ryan mentioned properly set), and simply
assuming that that was the end of the story.
Now I know better.
