Another good trick for things like that is to buy some cheap fusible backing like Pellon brand at Wal-Mart cut a oval big enough to cover the design entirely from the back. A square leaves hard edges so that's why a circular style feels softer. anyway use you iron and iron it over the embroidery, it will seal the loose threads and scratchy parts and leave a soft cloth feeling were it touches the skin, and it's cheap of course it can be time consuming so you wouldn't do it on everything but it works especially well on baby clothes!! Just a little tip I had heard about some time ago and pass along to those who didn't know.
