Thanks, Rod. My environment is pretty clean, and I blow out the dust & "poo" quite regularly (although not much gets on the machine anyway), so I don't think that's the problem. I took a look at it again, and it seems the surfaces appear to be very clean, so I'm left scratching my head... Jim, One thing that is important to check is the color index sensor and flag located behind the bottom of the needle case and at the center of the machine. This sensor is attached to the casting and a sawtooth shaped flag attached to the needle case runs in-between the sensor jaws. This works by a laser beam being blocked and then unblocked. As the needle case travels across the machine the computer counts the openings in the saw-toothed flag to arrive at the right color selection. If this flag accumulates dust, lint, grease, oil, etc., it can take debris into the laser jaws and disrupt the leaser beam and the counting process. This is the area where the maintenance guide tells to thoroughly blow out the laser sensor and the flag with canned pressurized air. There are times when this senor is to badly contaminated and then must be replaced. Thoroughly clean this area, really blow out the top and bottom of the flag in the sensor jaws. Move the needle case to #16, clean, both sides and then move the needle case to #1 and clean both sides again. Just blow the poo out of it...... This may help your color change issues. It is the most common cause...... Good luck.
