Best way to "compromise" is to place brackets around the number and put it on
there. The brackets officially remove it from the document...

Especially since I never technically signed up for an SSN or signed a social
security card. There is an SS-5 form somewhere with my dad's signature on
it, but nothing with my signature. I just want to be prepared in case they
try to deny or fine me (like the application threatens) if you leave off the
SSN. I have an ID that is due next year for renewal and I would rather have
the non-citizen national ID with no SSN attached to it. Thank you for taking
