From what i have seen so far, avg free edition only scans the local drives on each machine and not mapped network drives. Chris and I actually don't have file sharing enabled so this is not anything I have seen firsthand and I'd always think it a good idea to have a virus scanner instlaled on each computer anyway.

Doris

Doris,

Coming in on this and we'll probably be doing it too: Are you saying it
can't scan mapped drive, which in our case would be "C", or is there a
copy somewhere that it does not scan?

Yeha, sure. my husband and i do. the only thing you'll need to do is to install avg free edition on both machines. It means you cannot scan mapped drive on the network but otherwise it does not know or care you have another machine on your lan.
