Just to add slightly to what George said.

One advantage to drive mapping is that you can view your shared network 
drives in My Computer/Windows Explorer without having to go into My
Network 
Places.

I'd strongly suggest however manualy sharing a drive without using the 
Network Wizard before mapping.
