If Andy wanted a good old fashoned Sony cassette recorder I have one in excesllent condition and even tapes that are unopened so that is a possability. It has cue and review too on it. This cost 30 pounds. I always used to leave one of these by the phone and I found them brilliant too. Even those memo tapes though I do not think I have one of those recorders now. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Roger Indeed they did, but it was never the same outfit, mainly concentrating on mobile phones and car kit accessories. There were never any good note-takers or anything really suitable for us after Tandy went over to them.I guess Andy's best bet for something reasonably cheap but tasteful would beto try Argos. The trouble is that you can't look at all the products and try them out there though. Shame they didn't keep some of the kit they sold as well. What made me think of them was the fact theysold some good quality note-takers in the form of ordinary or microcassettes. Yes I know they are out-of-date now, but some of the Tandy makeswere good quality. I was in that shop all the time I am a radio ham and at that time I was on the CB radio, I was always buying something every week. I know Maplin is a good outlet, but I loved Tandy as they had some really useful kit, and most towns had one on the High Street. Even the cheapest Olympis is in my opinion excellent though of course if people want speech on it, it is a no goer but for messages and phone numbers which are then transferred at a later date I would thinkexcellent.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns"<jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To:<access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2012 11:37 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Cheap note taker for phone messagesHi Eleanor I'm not RNIB bashing, just being honest. Those little note-takers are just crap and not fit for purpose. Again, it's my personal view and very subjective. Perhaps they would do for some people, but I think it would be nice to have some that are inexpensive but useful. I guess you mainly get what you pay for though.
