Maybe I am wrong but I have been under the impression that a blind person going in to a store has the right to feel murchandise which a sighted person can see. Certainly the John Lewis Stores will open a product and let me feel it, no matter what the product and they usually have demo models in their electrical department. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi Andy I honestly don't know how much the cheaper range of Olympus recorders are,but I would suspect you could get something for less than £100. Perhaps youcould try Argos, limiting your budget and asking to see a couple to feel? The problem with them is that they don't often let you try the goods. Iknow the sort of thing you are after, but I'm thinking of quality as well assomething reasonably cheap because of your hearing difficulty. For that reason alone, I would rule out RNIB completely and find something on Play, Amazon or in the High Street. I think all the Olympus recorders are more expensive than this aren't they? - Andy----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairnsplace@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, May 24, 2012 8:06 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Cheap note taker for phone messagesHi AlanEach to their own, a very subjective topic, but I personally wouldn't ratethe audio quality for recording on the Penfriend as that hot. |Yes it is a good device, and I have used ours extensively for labelling, but I wouldn't really rate the quality on it for someone who has a hearing difficulty as Andy has for taking messages. Just a thought. Perhaps the DM5 or cheaper Olympus would be more suited to you Andy as the recordings on those are very good indeed. I don't want to pay hundreds of pound for loads of bells and whistles, just want a simple instantly recording device. Any suggestions? - Andy ________________________________ I am using the Free version of SPAMfighter <http://www.spamfighter.com/len> . SPAMfighter has removed 363 of my spam emails to date.
