Hi Eleanor

No I know you weren't. Don't know about anyone else, but I miss good old
Tandy. They always had things like recorders and leads. I know Maplin is a good outlet, but I loved Tandy as they had some really useful kit, and most
towns had one on the High Street.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Absolutely Jackie and I was not implying that it was bashing RNIB but RNIB
would do well to do a survey on these and then look around again. Even the cheapest Olympis is in my opinion excellent though of course if people want
speech on it, it is a no goer but for messages and phone numbers which are
then transferred at a later date I would think excellent.

Hi Eleanor

I'm not RNIB bashing, just being honest. Those little note-takers are
just crap and not fit for purpose. Again, it's my personal view and
very subjective. Perhaps they would do for some people, but I think
it would be nice to have some that are inexpensive but useful. I
guess you mainly get what you pay for though.

Kind Regards,

Jackie Cairns

Well Jackie many people agree with what you say so maybe RNIB should
re-think that.

John, couldn't agree with you more, they are awful things, but again
it's subjective.

They certainly do, but the playback reproduction is pretty appalling.
I wouldn't touch it!

Subject: [access-uk] Cheap note taker for phone messages

Hi all -

I'm looking for a cheap but reliable gadget to have near my phone for
jotting down phone numbers and brief messages when on a call. I don't
want to pay hundreds of pound for loads of bells and whistles, just
want a simple instantly recording device. Any suggestions? -

Andy
