It is liability insurance that they want you to have. If you repair a tv and
a week later the house burns down and they cant pin down what caused it, you
and the tv manufacturer and any other people involved will likely be sued
for damages as a possible cause of the fire. Even if there is not a good
case, the insurance companies usually settle to avoid the cost of going to
court. The manufacturers insurance company requires that you have insurance
to share the cost of the settlement.
