In my classes for various manufacturers I used the term " tinkerers" for
technicians who did not use all equipment available to them. Thus the term
tinkerers. I would submit that a proper and fast way to troubleshoot the
problem would have been to monitor the on-off pin on the microprocessor. That
way the defect could have been narrowed down to that point on to the relay or
within the micro by observing the unsoldered on-off pin on the micro. If when
unsoldered the set would not start up then one would know that the trouble
was within the micro or before. Get my drift? If I'm abrupt guys I
apologise.Hollis Bates, field Engineer-retired
