Thank you Rob for giving more emphasis to my original conceptualization of UAVs being used for aerial photography. Otherwise, I would totally agree with others that object to noise, irritation, incompatibility during a launch event, and so on. Unless the purpose was to take footage of a rocket's launch, UAVs would/should be treated like any other RC model at a rocket launch (sparingly as has historically been the case). I can see the numbers of UAV users increasing. The issue of having a club position that is thought out in place helps everyone to understand the rationale for allowing/disallowing under various situations.

The difference is people aren't flying multirotors for fun at the launches.
They would be doing it for aerial photography. A MR flying 100' above the
flight line is out of the way from all but the worst rocket disasters in
which the rocket itself would endanger the flight line.

As with many things, all is fine until something goes wrong and then it
isn't.

I'm sure TRA is already in the process of putting language into the rules.

Imagine having video of the drag race from 200'

Agreed- one issue is the noise that they make would make it harder to hear
the LCO and announcements.

Maybe have a couple of rounds per day where they would be ok? If you want
the rocket to be recorded from higher up then launch during that round? Or
does this add too much complexity to an already busy day?

Rockets blow up, skywrite, lawn dart, and land on cars already. Is this
increasing that risk or not?

UAV'S, COPTERS, PLANES, ETC, all of these are really fun, exciting, and neat
to watch. But this is a HP Rocket Launch, could I go to a RC Field and
launch high power rockets while there aircraft are in the air??? Probably
not.
I'm not going to say we should allow them or not allow them. What would HQ
Tripoli say???? With these in the air, skies are not clear. I'm not trying to
be a joy kill here.

They would make rocket hunting a snap. When a countdown is in process, they
need to be grounded. God forbid something go wrong. We would hate to put our
hobby we all enjoy in jeopardy.

Agree. RC was banned at Plaster for this very reason.

Rocket launches are for launching rockets. There are other events for
helicopters and such.

Personally I dislike the noise and would prefer to hear the LCO and
rockets without interference. Cliff
