Jean-Philippe,

This is good news. It proves that you can use keystrokes to trigger a
plug-in. The next test is a little complicated.

1. Open a score, Bebop would be best because I know this score has no nasty
surprises in it.
2. Go to the preferences and check what keystroke you assigned to the
"Access" plug-in. I think it was
ALT+CONTROL+SHIFT+0 but you need to make absolutely sure that you know this
keystroke for the test to work.
3. Close the preferences dialog and return to the score.
4. Press CONTROL+GRAVEACCENT until JAWS says "plug-in disabled".
5. Now use the navigation keys to move to a note in the score. I suggest
moving down to the piano A staff and finding a chord.
6. Press INSERT+3 to pass key through.
7. Press the keystroke that you assigned to the plug-in.
8. Find the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\(your user name)\Application Data\Sibelius
Software\Sibelius 5\Plug-ins\Access
9. Open the file SibeliusToJAWS.ini
10. Locate the line which starts "msg=".

The line should look something like:
Msg=**page** Bar 21       %%2nd ending F5   D5   C5   Ay4   Half note
quarter 1 %%Chord symbol Dmin7

If you read the line carefully you should find the pitches of the notes and
its duration and position. In the message above the relevant text is:
F5 D5 C5 Ay4 Half note quarter 1

Does this information reflect the note or chord you were on when you pressed
the plug-in keystroke?

Dear Dan,
both keystrokes worked perfectly.
I don't know how reassuring this is.

  Jean-Philippe,

We need to determine whether Sibelius is assigning shortcuts properly.
Can
  you do the following:

  1. Open the preferences dialog and go to the menus and shortcuts page.
  2. In the menu or category choose "play".
  3. In the feature list choose "Play/Stop or snap line/lyric to next note".
  4. Give this a keystroke of Alt+9
  5. Now in the menu category list choose "plug-ins".
  6. In the feature list choose "System Objects".
  7. Give this a keystroke of Alt+0.
  8. OK the preferences dialog.
  9. In the score try both these keystrokes.

Alt+9 should start and stop the playback.
Alt+0 should open a dialog called System Objects.

  Let me know what happens,

  Dan Rugman
