AND you should have a thorough concept of what the dog's job was meant to be. I love the idea of the seminars the AKC holds and judges can observe dogs in the field, hunting, carting, coursing, herding, etc., etc. It's a start:) Hopefully, then, a judge can spot a "fad" and/or something taken to extreme and say "well, THAT won't work" and place it accordingly. Maybe that's where the saying "that dog won't hunt" came from <VBG>. I think of an IS as cliff notes. Like cliff notes, no matter how well written, you can't expect to get the whole picture, or story if you will. How much better to spend time...years really...watching what a dog was meant to do, having your hands on them, listening to their breeders, curling up w/ historical writings on the breed while sippin' some of Peggy's favorite brew <G>. Maybe then, you can say you know a little of as particular breed:) Kathy three generations of Dual Titled Champions live here! visit _Pine Hill German Shepherd Dogs_ (http://www.geocities.com/pinehillgsds/) ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2005.
