When I think of the GSD standard (ANY standard really), I think of it in two parts. The WRITTEN Standard, which is set in stone, and the pictoral standard, which is an artists depiction of what the ideal dog should look like. So, they are one in the same, and at the same time, they are not. For example, if the NIS had been continued on with, and today's style was shown as ideal in drawn terms, I wouldn't use it. If the style of the dog changed 50 years from now (Which it will, breeds "evolve" in look), I still wouldn't use it. I will follow the written word as closely as possible, because, while the IS is used as a guide to show what a dog should look like conformationally, it tends to influence a person's perception, because of the picture they are seeing on the page. The written word is what it is, if you all understand what I mean. - Jackie In a message dated 8/25/2005 5:32:27 PM Central Daylight Time, Ecam2213 writes: Please help me,, isn't the illustrated the pictoral of the standard?
