If you attach your headphones to the external card and you have JAWS and the dictation both coming into that card the dial will turn the whole mix up or down but, if you want to control just the JAWS level you would need to do it through windows. On the other hand if you plug your headphones into the internal sound card, and the only thing going to the external card is jaws, then you could use the dial on the external card to control how much jaws you hear in your headphones.
