What is a "normal" light to look at prints under,
when you're judging darkness, contrast, etc?

Best to judge prints using the same light they will
have when they are displayed.

If you print for a bright 100W lamp 3 feet from the print and then find your print has been hung in a dark corridor you will have an unhappy
customer: "There is something wrong! It doesn't
look at all like the one in the gallery! It's
all dark and gloomy! You sold me a defective
print!"

Some papers look like they get a bit darker as they dry. The reality and cause of the effect
is a matter of debate.
