I'm trying and I must admit I am making progress. Used to the setup now and
understand how the drives connect. Yes Hun, it is red wire and another small
one, I bet this really helps with air flow. The other connection type (wide
ribbion cables) are only for the top two bays, I guess only the cdrw drives.

I'm going to get some of those learning tools you talked about, but really
this is getting more and more simple each day. Thank You Hun, I don't know if
your as old as me but if so we have seen a lot of changes :-)

  God Bless

  Hey sweetie ...hang in there...
I have done some stuttering and cussing too....
I expected changes with Vista...and I am pretty patient...MOST of the
time..but.... it is frustrating..not having a clue what to do....lol!

The red wires from the hard drives are serial drives. Unless you have
connectors that look like your old one did..those wide ribbon cables, those
drives will NOT work in the new machine. Having said that... Don did say he had
an EIDE connection on his new mother board that WOULD let him use his old
parallel ata drives. I do not have that opportunity, which is why I bought the
cables. I am not knowledgeable enought about PATA and SATA to know if the EIDE
will handle both or not.

Education if they key to me. My other half wants to turn the computer on and
have it do what he wants right then. Me, I KNOW it is going to be different. I
KNOW there is a learning curve. Do I get frustrated... dang straight I do..but
I KNOW I WILL learn how to do what I want to do...sooner OR later....

If I start badmouthing the machine and my judgment for buying it so early in
its release.... and comparing it to other Operating Systems, I am wasting my
time and energy and pulling myself down. I was there at midnight when XP was
released. I had it installed the next morning. I had a question, called
Microsoft....and this very nice helpful lady lead me down the wrong path.
Things got really messed up. B U T... I had a guy (From Microsoft) working with
me and HIM calling ME back for 3 1/2 LONG days on the phone until he got my
machine right.

I will keep plugging away on this machine. I can envision and actually SEE some
of the potential. So, I will carry on. Progress requires change is is not
always for the feint of heart! lol!

My stab at Education:
I bought the Cd set .that is like the Video Professor you see on TV. It is
called Professor Teaches... Windows Vista for $20.

It covers XP and Vista..and all flavors (versions) of Vista...Home Basic -
Premium - Business & the Ultimate I have.

This is at the Frys website and it $15. www.frys.com. Put in the search box
5060735 and it will bring it up for you.
You put the CD in and then just follow the steps. It tells and shows you step
by step how to do stuff, it has YOU using your mouse to do the steps. Then, at
the end of each subject, there is a short quiz. No one sees any test papers and
you can play it over and over until you GET IT (I know I do).

I also bought a book 100 best tips/tricks for Vista Simply Visually (or a name
close to that...lol! - But once I got it home, I realized it was for folks who
already knew Vista and wanted to learn some good neat stuff beyond the basics.
For now... the basics is what I need.

So, I bought the book....Windows Vista for Dummies - There are two books..one
is just that... Vista for Dummies..and then the one I got is the one that
says... 9 Books in 1.
It covers Vista Orientation
Vista Boot Camp
Securing Vista
Customizing Vista
Adding Cool Hardware
Joining the Multimedia Mix
Vista Video
Setting Up a Vista Network.

Some of these I do not care a lick about..but having the reference is
invaluable to me. I love learning new things. It is the pain sometimes of
knowing what question to ask to get to what I need that frustrates me....lol!

Well, Ii have jabbered on long enough.. time to get some work done!
I am here if you need someone to whine to..and who knows...I may write and
whine to you... tee hee!
