Adelphia Cable has a pretty good promotion right now, $26.95 for one
year plus a free Motorola SB5100 cable modem (via rebates). I was concerned
because I only have Broadcast Cable, the cheapest rate they have so I can
watch the news. That is about all I use the TV for. They said that was fine
I still get the same rate for the Internet so I jumped on it. Not sure what
happens to it a year from now but by then I will know if I really want to
keep it. If the cable works out I might just be able to get rid of my home
telephone and just use the Cell phone.
The Ethernet card was not being used so it will come in handy for this
addition. I read somewhere that they charge $3.00 per month to rent a modem
which itself probably runs about $90.00. So renting would make sense I
suppose if you were not sure you wanted to keep cable internet. However in
30 months you would have paid the same as if you bought the modem outright
but then still not own the modem.

Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
