Well, my concern is that if you are hiring someone from another country it's
hard to measure their exprience. I've often found it hard to assess
someone's experience in an interview (in those annoying interviews where we
are not supposed to evaluate the technical skill of the interviewee) based
just on general questions. I've also had the other kind of interviews, where
I can ask anything I want and get a good idea of their skill and whether
it's plausible they have the experience they state in their resume.

Conducting a proper technical interview is a very good option, and
references are not always possible, I usually don't put them in my resume
and if I am asked for references then I specifically tell contact my
references and ask for their permission to supply their contact, so this
takes one or two days.

What makes the right kind of person for work from home? How do you evaluate
this in an interview (remote or otherwise)?

cheers
Alan.-
