Donald,
If you installed more than just a few months ago, you probably went w/
ES3 cause that was the newest available at the time. Version 4 hasn't
been out all that long.

What version of Linux?
I do believe that the 2.6 kernel has better IO
performance than the 2.4 kernel.
If you're on 2.4, I'd try and upgrade to 2.6 and see
if that makes any difference.
