Don't know if it helps any, but there is a comparsion
for web serving here:

They compare 2.4 v 2.6. Anyway, conclusions for all
to see.
See if you can find out the kernel version. If 2.4
I'd highly recommend going 2.6 (uname -a would get you
that info).
Dare I say it, but maybe Windows does have better IO
performance then Linux. I'm not a linux nor a windows
bigot. Whatever works best, I use.
